Firm license fee$45
banded on prior-calendar-year tons sold in AL: <250 t $45; 250–499 t $90; 500–999 t $300; 1,000–1,999 t $375; 2,000–3,999 t $450; 4,000–7,999 t $575; 8,000+ t $750. Firms selling only ≤10 lb packages report zero tons and pay $45 (portal instructions). Statute §2-21-19 says a first-time distributor pays the $30 minimum — the 2026 form and portal use $45.
License late fee10% of license fee, $10 minimum, if not paid within 30 days of due date
Product fee$50
Annual per-product fee in lieu of tonnage inspection fee for packages ≤10 lb: $50/product if AL gross feed sales ≤$250,000 AND national/international gross feed sales ≤$1,000,000; otherwise $100/product. Products >10 lb pay tonnage instead, no per-product fee.
Renewal windowfiled with the annual license (calendar year); 2026 form is titled '2026 COMMERCIAL FEED PRODUCT REGISTRATION (Ten Pounds or Less)'
Tonnage note≤10 lb packages pay the $50/$100 per-product annual fee in lieu of the $0.25/ton inspection fee; portal instructions: 'If you only have products that are 10lbs or less, that means no quarterly tonnage reports are required.' Quarterly tonnage late penalty 15% ($15 min) after 15-day grace.
Third-party filingregistrant_only: “License form 2026: 'I further certify the information on this application is correct. Typed Name of Submitting Officer / Signature'. Product form 2026: 'I CERTIFY THE INFORMATION ON THIS APPLICATION IS CORRECT. Company responsible for placing product on the market … Signature / Title / Typed Name'. Portal instructions: 'The Corporate Account name will already be populated in the Registering Company field … If you only have one company name (i.e., Bama Foods) and no dba or c/o, then click the box' — no agent role, the login is the company's corporate account (feed-license-app-2026.pdf, feed-products-2026.pdf, FEED.Portal.Instructions.1-11-23.pdf, re-read 2026-10-08).”
Before you file

  • Portal requires, per ≤10 lb product: product name, size, barcode image, barcode number, full label image (enter 99999999 if no barcode)

Forms

Good to know

  • Two fee meters for a small brand: $45 license + $50 per ≤10 lb product (jumps to $100/product once AL sales >$250k or total sales >$1M).
  • Pet food standards: Ala. Admin. Code ch. 80-1-9 adopts the AAFCO pet food regulations by reference.
  • Portal (since Jan 2023) collects per-product barcode number + barcode image + label image, one product at a time.
