Third-party filingregistrant_only: “Paper licence form (Rev 01/23): 'I declare and affirm under the penalties of perjury that this application has been examined by me, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, is in all things true and correct. — Signature of Applicant' (forms/SD/24-DANR-Feed-and-Fertilizer-Application.pdf); no agent/preparer block. Portal: 'All renewals, tonnage, and small package registration will be done online… If you forgot the login information, please reach out to Kylie Good' — one login per licensee company ID, no agent role documented (CommercialFeed.aspx, read 2026-10-08). Classification inferred from applicant-only signature + company login; confirm with DANR before relying on it.”

How the online filing goes

  1. Home screen (from user guide) — check the license line, then Renew/Add License only when due
  2. Small Package Fees (Pet Food & Specialty Pet Food Products, from user guide)
  3. Feed Tonnage Report (only if a SKU ships in packages over 10 lb, from user guide)
  4. Invoice and pay (from user guide)

Your packet lists every value for each screen. Click 'pay now' and choose card or online check (ACH). To mail a check instead, print the invoice page and send it with the check, Company ID on the paperwork, to DANR, 523 E Capitol Ave, Pierre, SD 57501-3182. An unpaid invoice is saved - you can come back later to pay.

Forms

Good to know

  • Two clocks: biennial $50 license (expires Dec 31 of the following year, $50 late after Jan 31) and annual $99/product small-package renewal (due Jan 31, late $20 or 10%).
  • Small-package fee applies only to products sold exclusively in ≤10 lb packages; a SKU sold in both sizes is split (label registration for the small size, tonnage for the large).
  • Paper Small Package Report says 'We will no longer be sending out paper applications' — renewals are portal-only.
  • SD follows AAFCO Model Bill Chapter 4 for pet/specialty pet labeling (SDAR 12:53:01).
